Winter investigations

We have enjoyed looking at different polar animals and making ice platforms for them in the water. We had some frozen penguins that were trapped in the ice and we had to help them to escape by melting it. We found our warm hands and breath worked well!

We have also loved our icy ‘igloo’ where we can look at wintery books, play with the polar animals and play matching games under the snowflakes.

Sharing stories

We have enjoyed listening to stories this week and sharing them with our friends. We particularly enjoy the

Gruffalo and have different books and games related to the story. We have used the small world characters from the story to match to pictures and begin to help with retelling the story.

Sensory explorations

We are exploring our sensory differences and looking at the Colour Monsters to help to begin to identify and recognise our moods and feelings.

“I’m going to build a house”

It has been Arts week this week. Here in The Hive we have explored role playing as builders, using tools and different materials. We have listen and danced to the song “I’m going to build a house” and explored printing brick patterns after looking at different bricks and stones around the school. We have even begun to make our own junk model houses- what great fun we have had!
