We had a super day yesterday celebrating ‘World Book Day’. All of our learning was based around the book ‘Winnie the Witch’. We were lucky enough to win the ‘Decorate a Door’ contest. Well done Fox Class.
“Learning, loving and encouraging through Christ.”
To end our topic, year 2 went to Kent Life to meet Florence Nightingale.
We listened to Florence speak about her life and then she showed us how to put on bandages and slings. We met lots of animals and saw lots of different houses from different eras. Our day ended with some free time in the play area.
What a fun day!
We have been learning about materials in science. We have described their properties and tested their suitability for different purposes. The children had lots of fun testing, making predictions and coming up with their own questions to answer.
Our topic this term is ‘Florence Nightingale – People of the Past’.
Here is an overview of the learning that will take place in year 2 this half term. Some areas of the curriculum have been linked but others will be taught as discrete lessons. The topic this term ends with our trip to Kent Life where the children will take part in a Florence Nightingale workshop.
Year 2 shared their learning with their parents. They were able to speak about the knowledge they had gained but also how we had developed many skills across the curriculum.
We ended our celebration with our own rendition of ‘London’s Burning’ which was led by the children and sung as a round.
Well done Year 2!
