The children have worked hard at making cushions in DT this term.  The children practised simple stitches, including cross – stitch and running stitch.  Some children learned how to use the applique technique by attaching patches.  The children designed their cushions before making them.

We were lucky to have Mr Singh visit our class.  He told us what it is like to be a Sikh and what is important to him.  Mr Singh explained that it is important to be thankful and to accept, not expect in life.  He also explored the values of love and respect, and how it is always essential to tell the truth. We learned about the 5 Ks and were able to share what is important to us.

We explored this question by working through different zones.  In the colour zone we explored this through artwork.  In the word zone we were able to write short narratives, poems, prayers and sequence stories.  The busy zones allowed us to use Lego and Playdough to create sculptures.  We were also able to answer reflection questions such as why is Christmas so important to Christians, how do Christians prepare for Christmas and what does Christmas mean to Christians? In the chat zone we were able to read Bible passages and talk to an adult.

We had great fun playing lots of party games, especially pass the parcel!

Year 3 enjoyed dressing up in their pyjamas and drinking hot chocolate as part as our writing task linked to the Polar Express.

Year 3 enjoyed making their Christingles and attending the Christingle service in church.

We took part in a Christmas reading event where authors shared their Christmas books.  Our favourite part was the tutorial for how to draw a penguin!

Group 2 had a wonderful time tobogganing.
