Year 3 Worship

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

Happy times of celebration can be a lonely time for many people, and a time when some people can feel stressed and unloved as they see others being happy and being loved.  We discussed how we can help.  Our ideas included sending Christmas cards, visiting people within our community and singing songs.

We reflected upon this in prayer:

1. Spend some time thinking of someone you know to whom you could show love in the next few weeks.
2. Ask God to draw near to them and to show you how you can bless them.
3. Think of something that you love about that person.

Gracious God,
From love we are made and to love we shall return. May our love for one another kindle flames of joy and hope. May the light and warmth of your grace inspire us to follow the Way of Jesus Christ, and serve you in your Kingdom, now and for ever.
Amen

Maths Week

We used Natwest’s ‘Money Sense’ workshop to discuss how to make sensible choices with our money. We discussed the difference between a ‘need’ and a ‘want’, deciding what were essential and non-essential purchases.

We also used our maths skills to crack codes. Some of us even created our own!

Harvest

We made harvest pumpkins.

How is Being a Christian Like a Harvest Pumpkin?

Just like a farmer, God picks you from the patch and brings you in to his house and kingdom.

He washes all of the dirt off of you.

He opens you up and scoops out all of the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate and greed.

 He plants only good seeds.

He gives you a unique smiling face.

He puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

We give thanks to God at harvest time.

Roman Day!

We have really enjoyed learning about the Romans this term.  As a ‘fab finish’ to the topic, we dressed up as Romans and carried out several activities.

We designed and made Roman shields.  We learned that the Romans only used a few basic colours and symmetrical patterns.

We also learned about how the Romans used mosaics.  We designed and created patterns of our own.

We finished the day with battle formations such as the tortoise, and lots of marching.

Vegetable Tart

We have been learning about seasonal vegetables and healthy diets.  We know that it is important to eat foods of different colours (a rainbow diet).

The children followed a recipe for a vegetable tart.  It included the seasonal vegetables: carrots, mushrooms, kale, and basil.
