To draw attention to the theme ‘all different, all equal’ we would the children on Tuesday 14th October to come into school in full school uniform wearing odd socks.
This week the children have been learning about remembrance and the reason we remember those that risked their lives for others. We have been creating poppy wreaths to be laid on remembrance day and they have been decorating biscuits with poppies.
We were really lucky to have Kent Fire and Rescue Service visit the school at the beginning of term.
We were shown how to test our smoke alarms
The children learnt about the role of a fire fighter, we saw what protective clothing they have to wear and how they keep safe.
We also learnt some rhymes to help keep us safe…
Matches, lighters
never touch
They can hurt you
very much
We also learnt that every week we should check our smoke detectors, so that when we are sleeping they can be our eyes and our noses and detect fire for us!
The children had a fabulous time on their bear hunt this afternoon, they even managed to catch a big one! Shame it wasn’t quite the beautiful day we had originally planned for!
Thank you to the all the parents that came and joined us this morning to share a story with the children, it was a very successful first session and we look forward to you joining us again next week. The children all enjoyed having you join us and described it as a special time! Here are a few pictures to share with you

Have a working smoke alarm
Both classes then tested materials as part of our science topic this term to find out which material would be the best for a fireman’s hose!
