Collaborative Art

The children recreated artwork by working collaboratively.  Each group divided a painting into sections and then painted a section each.  They then put these pieces together.  The children were able to apply a variety of painting styles and techniques.

Macmillan

One of our lovely year 5 pupils has made loom band bracelets to sell in order to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity. This is an incredibly kind and thoughtful thing to do and we are incredibly proud of her.

Art – Painting

The children have been experimenting with different painting techniques.  They explored dabbing, stippling, washes of colour, pointillism and many more.  We discussed each technique and why it might be used.

Drama

The children used drama to explore the moment that Percy was discovered by Shackleton in our book ‘Ice Trap’.  The children then used their ideas to write a diary entry.

Mental Health Show

The children had a great time taking part in Captain Wonderweb’s Mental Health awareness pantomime!

They learned how to keep themselves mentally healthy by:

– Being active
– Using less tech
– Getting a healthy amount of sleep
– Eating a well-balanced diet
– Talking to people when we’re worried

Scientific Enquiry

Maple class have been exploring different types of scientific enquiry.

We had to work out what a survey is, how we classify, carry out fair tests, investigate over time, look for patterns and use secondary sources.
