The children have really enjoyed learning to code. Through using Turtle and Trinket, the children have experimented with different codes to reveal different outcomes.
Year 6 have been learning about the different beliefs and opinions concerning the creation of the world. They have compared theories linked to the ‘Big Bang’ (cosmology), evolution and Genesis 1. We have held some interesting discussions.
The children were also invited to share ideas about what makes them go ‘wow!’ about our world. Examples included storms and sunrises.
The children have really enjoyed learning about the Tudors this term.
We started by exploring evidence and linking this to the Tudor period.
The children then went on to learn about how the Tudor period started by re-enacting the Battle of Bosworth. We then went on to learn about the reign of Henry VIII and his 6 wives, followed by looking at Tudor clothing and diets. Tudor crime and punishment provided a topical debate regarding whether or not the punishments were fair or unfair. The children were able to link this to our class book ‘Treason’ by Berlie Doherty.
The children enjoyed learning about the Spanish Armada and writing newspaper reports.
