Happy New Year!

We hope you had a good Christmas.  Here is the overview for this term.

Topic Overview Term 3 YEAR 6

We made mobile phone cases out of felt.  First, we carried out some market research and used this to inform our design.  We then learned about different kinds of stitching before we started to make our cases.  We look forward to sharing the finished products!

To celebrate the start of our World War II topic, we carried out a variety of activities.  These included: code breaking, Spit Fire making and investigating evacuation and rationing.

We learned about how the Tudor Rose marked the start of the Tudor period when the House of York merged with the House of Lancaster.

Well done to Bronwyn and Kimberley for attending weekend maths classes at the University of Kent.  Here are some photos of their learning about Fibonacci’s sequence.

Here is a selection of some of the activities from ‘Maths Week’ at the start of Term 2.  We really enjoyed the maths workshops and we even designed some maths games designed for KS1 during our PE lesson.

Week 6

Last week, Year 6 visited Dover Castle as their exit point for The Tudors and the entry point for WW2. We took part in a ‘Secret Codes and Ciphers workshop’ and learnt about Operation Dynamo.
