Canterbury Cathedral – Weds 6th November

Year 6 visited Canterbury Cathedral on Wednesday. We had the opportunity to reflect and pray. There were workshop activities such as: stone masonry, charters, stained glass windows, sculpture, music and book making.

Mrs Liddell and a group of children created a wonderful banner which we walked through the Cathedral as part of a procession.

Some children read out prayers to the congregation. They did a great job!

Tudor Dance

Last term Year 6 learnt some different Tudor Dances. This enabled us to link our topic and PE lessons. We learnt how to do a Tudor Farandole – this was great fun:

Then we learnt the Horses Branle (this was a little more tricky as we had to remember the steps!)

Then we had a go at creating our own versions of the Horse Branle.

We look forward to showing these to you at a Tudor event we are planning for this term.

Bushcraft

Here are a few photos from our residential.  A CD with a variety of photos will be provided later in the year.

Natacha – ‘It was really good, even though it was a 3 hour journey. The activities were really fun.’

Bronwyn – ‘Bushcraft was one of the best experiences of my life because it taught me first aid and things that I didn’t already know. It was really interesting.’

Mollie C – ‘Bushcraft was a really good trip. I enjoyed the games and making a den for ‘Wrap Man’ The worst bit was when we watched the lady cut open a Salmon and when five children fish eyeballs.’

Archie – ‘Bushcraft was really good’.

Morgan – ‘Bushcraft was really fun because we had lots of fun. My favourite part was the first aid sessions and rescuing the teachers.’

George G – ‘Bushcraft was a blast! I found it super fun and it was definitely worth it.   I enjoyed learning how to use a knife to make a tent peg.’

Ellie – May – ‘Bushcraft was good because it helped us to become independent and responsible for chores that our parents usually do.’
